Assalamualaikum and a very good day everyone…
As promised, the Baitul Fitrah team would like to update on the current status of the project. Basically, this project is a long-term project initiave by the staff of LPPG and we are adopting Baitul Fitrah for one year until 2009. Within the one year period, Baitul Fitrah team has come up with several intiatives meant to promote mid-term and long-term impact for the children.
The followings are the details on the initiatives taken as of 3rd June 2008:
HIGH IMPACT & LONG-TERM BENEFITS
Qualifying for Zakat
Up until now, even though the house is registered, it is not qualified for Zakat. Realizing that obtaining the qualification of the zakat, the team has prioritize this initiative for the long-term benefits for the children. Mr. Baba Hazriq is the focal person responsible for this initiative.
Hopefully, with the qualification for zakat will help the Baitul Fitrah house to get additional income for better living. Let us pray to God to bless this holy effort to ensure that those children have shoulder to depend on.
Tax Exemption for Third Party
This is another high impact for long-term benefits of the Baitul Fitrah residents. The team is striving to help the house getting another source of additional income by obtaining tax exemption for any third parties who give contributions to the house. In this case, not only the kids get the benefits from the monetory of physical contributions by third parties, the donors as well could be exempted from tax imposed by the goverment.
The focal person responsible for this initiative is Ms.Siti Khatijah Bt Halmi.Let us pray to God to bless this effort to give the best for both the kids and the kind-hearted donors.
Operation for hole in the heart – Azlina
Adik Azlina, 11 years old, is not like other normal kids. She was born with a hole in her heart – disables her to have a normal life especially a colorful childhood. In order to cure her, an operation shall be taken and it will cost approximately RM 30,000.00. Unfortunately, with the income of RM 800 per month as roti canai maker, her father could not afford for that. Even worse, he has another has five more dependents.
Realizing that she urgently need a helping hand, the Baitul Fitrah team is finding way to fasten the operation. The focal person for this initiative are Ms. Yusniza M Yamin, Ms. Izwa Bazli Baharudin, and Ms. Nurdalila Shaari
MEDIUM TERM
Upgrading of Baitul Fitrah House
The team is currently upgrading the Baitul Fitrah house as a mean to provide better living space for the children. Among the upgrading activties planned for the house include painting the house
Purchasing of Household Items
The team has paid a visit to Baitul Fitrah house and found that there are several household items they need including a refrigerator, iron etc. Using the fund raised for the project, the team has planned to purchase a 2-door refrigerator for the male orphans’ house and an automatic washing machine.
OTHER PROGRAMS
Sports Day
This activity is planned to provide some happy hours with the kids. During the sports day, several games have been planned to color the hours! These include the futsal game in Klang
Aquaria KLCC & Petrosains Visit
We realize that kids could learn better if they are given a chance. Hence, the team plans to bring the kids out of the house for an educational visit to Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains. Not only to let them to have opportunities to explore scientific world like other normal kids, but to let them to inspire their life to be a prominent person one day.
The Baitul Fitrah team hopes that by opening a new dimension to the kids through the educational visit to Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains, they could benefit from the knowlegde the gained and the experience they collected so that one day, what they learnt would glitter their life….
